How did I get Here?

Knock, knock. “Five minutes Ms. Mitchell”. “Okay, thank you!” Ms. Mitchell as in Opera diva Mitchell. As in Grammy award winning Mitchell. And I am knocking on her door telling her it is almost show time? How did I get here?

As Oprah Winfrey once said, “there is no such thing as good luck”. Success happens when opportunity collides with preparedness. Ms. Mitchell is being managed by my friend of over twenty years. When asked if I would be interested in helping her with a few other projects it became clear that the two of us worked very well together. We bounce off of each other and think alike on a lot of things. I bring a skill set of problem solving, attention to details, creativity and dependability. Those alone can take one far when the right opportunity arises. We both have good people skillsand good business sense. We are at a point in our lives where we can go down a crazy path.

Ms. Mitchell is not done singing. She has taken care of her voice and it sounds incredible! Her manager and partner are making a documentary on her life. She is recording an album that fuses opera and jazz together. This past weekend we held a private fund raiser to debut the film trailer and debut her music. The work that went into getting there was almost overwhelming at times. Keeping our eye on the prize kept us moving forward. When we hit a wall we backed up and went a different direction. We pulled it off with much help from lots of people. Ms. Mitchell’s performance was spot on and received standing ovations. We are so excited for her and excited to see what is next in this adventure! Hard work, dedication and preseverance pay off!

Of all things I have thought about doing, this was not even on the radar! However, I know I could certainly keep going down this path! What an honor and a privilege!
